Samuel S. Shirk owned and operated Shirk Excavating from 1977 to 1998. In 1998, he sold the excavating business and started renting backhoes, track-loaders, excavators, ram hammers, and dozers to the construction industry under its current name, Stoney Creek Rentals. In 2003 Stoney Creek Rentals moved to its present location at 872 Park Road, Blandon, PA where the equipment for rent grew to the line-up currently offered today. Stoney Creek Rentals is owned by Samuel and his son Michael Shirk. While the focus of the business had primarily been geared to construction, landscaping, and excavating contractors, today their list of rental customers has expanded to include municipalities, institutions, school districts, businesses, farmers, and homeowners.
